Translation Memory eXchange (TMX)
Overview
TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) is a vendor-neutral standard for exchange of Translation Memory (TM) data. This data is created by and used in Computer Aided/Assisted Translation (CAT) tools and localization-oriented applications. TMX is intended to allow easier transfer of translation memory data between tools or vendors in as close to lossless manner as possible. The first version of TMX was introduded in 1998 and since then it has become a certifiable data standard. TMX was initially developed and maintained by OSCAR (Open Standards for Container/Content Allowing Re-use), a Special Interest Group at LISA, the Localisation Industry Standards Association (defunct as of 2011).
